In Athens at the hostel, very impressed with Athens from the moment I arrived. Firstly, it was so easy to get to my hostel from the airport. It only cost 6 euros and the new metro system is so clean and efficient. Everything was clearly marked in English and Greek.
Get to the hostel, also very good. Not expensive, shower is clean, room is clean. Certain things that I have experienced in other hostels were not provided however overall good and worth the money you pay. http://www.athensbackpackers.gr/
Day 1 basically arrived in Athens, checked in the hostel, met an Australian guy who was from Brisbane and started chatting. We decided to go for dinner. Dinner was amazing. The guy was a really nice lad. He was just starting his 6 week travel trip and it was his second day. Lovely person.
Day 2 had the free breakfast at the hostel which is basically boiled eggs, toast and jam. Better than nothing and its for free. Then decided to do the walking tour, cost only 5 euros and it went for 3 hours. This was amazing and highly recommend it to anyone who visits Athens and stays at this backpackers. The guy was so knowledgeable. We saw everything and he gave us the most vital piece of information - on Sundays the Acropolis, Mueseums etc are free. This saved me a lot of money as this is now what I am doing tomorrow on my last day in Athens. Tonight off to dinner with 3 other people that I met on my walking tour. Really nice people, so should be good. Tomorrow will be checking out the Acropolis Museum, the Acropolis and Panthenon etc.
So far my time in Athens has been great. The weather today was sunshine and tshirt weather. The sunglasses made an appearance all day. Loved it.
Shall keep you all posted of my final day in Athens!
Stay tuned and keep safe.
