Triathlon training has begun!!!

Very excited about my triathlon season coming up this year. One of my NY goals is to compete in 3 Olympic distance triathlons...............for those reading my blog who do not know the distances .....it is 1.5km swim/ 40km bike/ 10km run. All of which are done one after each other.

Last year I did 6 tri's but they were baby ones. Distances were 400m or 500m swim, 20 -25km bike and always a 5km run. So this year I'm upping the ante and I cant wait.

This week I have been diligent with getting back into the training now that Christmas and New Year has passed. I also have set myself the goal of being on a 3 month detox. Very difficult at times when I am such a social person, but alas I have survived 11 days so far.

Today I began building my race calender for the season. It looks like I am doing 4 Olympic tri's, 1 supersprint and 1 Sprint. Definitely need to hire a swim coach to improve my technique and also my breathing in the water. Very excited about achieving this goal. Believe me I will and of course I will blog about it lol.

Training this week thus far has been 2 runs.....1 8.3km and 1 4km..not big but this is only the beginning. Today rode the bike for 45 mins and managed 30km. That definitely needs to improve however again haven't been on the bike since my last triathlon in Barcelona!

Tomorrow will be another run, probably on the treadmill, see how I feel. Then Friday I'm in Athens! Yippee
