Triathlete in training.................update

Just a quick update on the progress of my training. Last week my training week was consistent and good. The focus was quality sessions and distance.

Monday night saw me run 12km at a controlled heart rate of 140 bpm, this was a first for me and I couldnt believe how slow the pace was but how long I could last and also how fantastic I felt. I ran a lap of Richmond Park, and whilst I was average 8min 1km's on the last km I banged out a 6min 1km. This is now the new addicition for Monday nights.

Tuesday saw me attend my usual core strength PT session with my personal trainer @Alan_P_T
These sessions focus on making me stronger and leaner. Arriving home late from work saw me miss my swim session in the evening. In the old days I would look to catch up on this session however I have learnt, once missed to leave it.

Wednesday evening I attended after many many weeks away, Turbo with Thames Turbo. A turbo session involves spinning for a period of time, then getting off the bike and running for a period of time. Great for fitness and improving ability to transition quickly from bike to run. Last week the session involved 8 mins cycling alternating between high and low cadence to running for 3 mins out and 3 mins back x 5.Loved it and if I wasnt flying to OZ this coming Wednesday I would be at Turbo!

Thursday I attended my core session with my PT and in the afternoon I marshalled the GE Canary Wharf Triathlon. Loads of fun however I did miss my swim session.

Friday - rest day

Saturday is my lake swim morning and usually if time permits 5km run. On Saturday my goal was to knock out a 3km continous swim. Firstly, I've never done it before so when I completed it I was completely over the moon. For me this is a huge achievement. 1 month ago I couldnt even swim 400m without using my inhaler and stopping at each boy. Now I no longer use my inhaler, I dont stop at all and I can go the distance.

So now the focus for the swim leg is to get faster over my chosen race distance, 1.8km!

Sunday became a rest day after attending a @CarolineSmith00 30th birthday, which I might was a fun night. Great girls and guys and loads of dancing,

Till next week
Smooches

Next race is 15th July - Marlow Olympic Triathlon (first one ever - distance that is)
