I've had two glasses of wine so far tonight after a long stressful week at work and my training mojo has been going up and down like a bloody yo yo.
So this race @VacheryTri http://www.vacherytriathlon.com/ was never in my initial race plan for the year, but after competing at Worthing with my fellow @thamesturbo triathletes and completed my first full Olympic distance triathlon, I was itching to do another one. The want was there to race, the desire and need to train was not. One minute I was like 'Yeah I am going to run, then swim, then do this and then do that' and then on the other hand I was thinking I am tired. I have been training since Jan 1st and I am not elite athlete I just wanted to get better. I was sending myself mental.
This week I realised I have done 2 half marathons (something I had not done before), 1 aquathon, 3 x 1500m timed swims, 1 x 6km swim challenge, and 5 triathlons (various distances) since Feb this year. I am tired.
I felt that as soon as I realised that due to work commitments that I was no longer able to race in Mauritius, my 'A' race desire was no longer there and I felt like i needed to give myself a break. The joy and love for training was slowing dying and I never want to get to that stage. EVER!
So I decided well 'F*&k it' I am going to train when I feel like it and when I do, ill just have a good quality session. So I trained last week after completing the Worthing triathlon.....7 days straight, then decided I needed a days rest, went back to training the following day continued on for the rest of the the week ending with a long ride on Sunday. Monday this week I was due to complete my last OW session, however due to work I was held back and missed out. GUTTED! :(
Did a run Tuesday morning before work and then in the evening went to strength and conditioning training with The Athletic Edge (follow them on twitter @edgeathletic). Wednesday and Thursday I was mentally tired from work that I couldn't face any training. Tonight however I went to The Athletic Edge and did a session that was focused on tapering before the race Sunday and I feel good.
Tomorrow I shall stretch and do my exercises as guided by my S & C Coach @BenRichens500 from The Athletic Edge @edgeathletic and simply chill.
I am also most excited to meet some fellow triathletes who I follow and chat with constantly on twitter @KevAston23 and @LeekyBoy7
A special thank you to @LeddyBrendan who is going to drive us both at some ungodly hour to register time. Thank you :)
Time to do this race.....well I have no idea with no real consistent training I will be surprised if I make it under 3:30 hour.
All good though just going to have fun
Till Sunday
