Turbowoman 13th Oct 2012

Several months ago @Meganfaysmith came up with the idea of 'Turbowoman' Bascially we are both members of @ThamesTurbo Triathlon Club (we just won Triathlon Club of the Year @London Triathlon Awards.

Within our club there is a ridiculous challenge called Turboman and mostly only ever completed by the men of the club. On the back of that it was decided that we needed to have a Turbowoman.

The basic principles is that the event does not involve any swimming, cycling, or running but does involve getting dressed up, dining out somewhere yummy and then dancing till the wee hours of the morning!

Turbowoman was born!

We decided a date (we being @meganfaysmith and myself) and then I got on my merry way to arranging where we were going to go. We had a total of 11 Turbo women join in the fun and festivities.

A friend of mine recently started up a events company called Destination Unknown @du_london and basically you tell them what you are wanting to do, when, how many people and your budget and they work out the rest. Well they did a marvellous job.

We ate the most yummiest restaurant, the food was abundant, the flavours was amazing, we were even treated to a flamenco dance and a belly dancer. The place we ate at was called El Cantara in Soho. I would highly recommend this place. I will probably eat there again. We got so much food. It was brilliant.

After all the chatting, drinking and eating, 8 of us headed off to the next venue for some cocktails and dancing. Our next venue was a nightclub in London named Kanaloa. We got there around 10pm, we had a table set aside for us and we even got a massive sharing cocktail where we simply sip through a straw. Delicious.

Kanaloa nightclub was fun, the music was fine for awhile, sometimes the DJ got it wrong, it definitely got packed and at about 12.30am (i know early) us Turbowomen decided to call it a night so we could get home to watch the final hours of the pro men and women competing in the World Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Although we left early, we had a blast. I do think however for us the next time we got out we will head to Viva, local nightclub in Richmond as it plays the tunes we like and the crowd is more our style. :)

Overall Turbowoman was a success, a lot of fun and gave some of the girls who had never met each other the opportunity to make a friend and see them at training.

Thanks to all who came Janet L, Janet D, Mel A, Caroline, Liz, Jennie, Rita, Megan, Karen and Ema.

Here are some photos from the night!
