2013 Race Season

Triathlon is so popular everywhere around the world, that in order to get into the races you want for the year you really need to think about your season, races and then simply just enter them otherwise you miss out.

Now to many experienced triathletes this is known but to those who are new and read my blog, then you will now know for the future.

There is one race I want for 2014, the entry day will be in March 2013. The race Melbourne Ironman. This race in 2012 when it opened for entry, the general places sold out in 4 mins!!! That is right 4 mins!!!!! So as you can imagine even though I planned my 2013 race season, I have already got my sights on my dream goal, dream race for 2014.

This race is important to me for the following reasons:
* My first IRONMAN event
* To race my first IRONMAN on my home turf, Melbourne Australia
* For my family and friends to see me achieve my goal will be unexplainable to me

So watch out social media world, cause if I get an entry to this race when it opens in March, the whole bloody world will know cause I will be so excited.

So knowing my goal for 2014, you will now be able to understand the madness of my 2013 race season. All the races is training for my end goal - 'A' race as us triathletes like to call it - Melbourne IRONMAN.

2012 taught me a lot about my approach to training, the amount of advice I should listen too,  the fact that I must race my own race, to train my own plan, to stop comparing myself to others who have different goals to mine as it demotivates me not inspire and to simply not forget to enjoy the journey!

Whilst in OZ over christmas I came across this website http://www.maccax12.com so I thought I would check it out. Well once I saw it was 12 specific training sessions created by my male idol in the sport Chris McCormack, I paid the fee and got the sessions. I then discovered he had a VIP group for a small monthly fee I would be part of a global endurance community and have access to the man himself. Best decision I ever made. As we all know I love social media, so being part of this group benefits me. SO far I have made some pretty great contacts, Chris has spoken to me direct himself and I am super looking forward to actually meeting him at Challenge Roth. Since joining, I have learnt quite a lot, knowledge is one component I lack in this sport, there is so much technical stuff to comprehend, science, numbers, V02, how much should you run, how often should you bike and the list goes on and on, learning from the best in the sport is priceless. Plus the fact that he is Aussie is fabulous as well.

So with all that mentioned above now to list my races for 2013
Feb 10th - Wokingham Half Marathon
March 2nd - G3 Runners Need 10km run (Club Champs)
March 17th - Surrey Rumble 122km bike
