The plan..............................................................

So for the first time in my triathlon career (can't really call it a career but you know what I mean...since I started tri back in 2007) I have decided that as I am increasing my distance from Olympic to Half Ironman and then eventually a full Ironman to try a plan.

That's right a structured plan, where I will wake up and know exactly what I have to do for training that day. Now I am only up to day 3 of the plan but so far I am enjoying it. I simply check my plan, pack the appropriate gear so I can change at work or if its a double session I can complete one during my lunch hour and off I go. Today was actually a day where I had two sessions - 1 x 800m swim and 1 x 4 mile run.

On a side note I really commend those of my triathlete mates and acquaintances around the world who are parents and manage to train and still be a wife/husband/father/mother etc at the same time. Whilst all my friends are settling down I am busy training towards some of my biggest challenges that I have set myself. All which I might add gives me so much pleasure and happiness. Once I have achieved the IM goal I plan to take myself to America for 6 weeks and travel. I have never been to the USA so that will be my reward.

Okay so back to my training plan. Its a simple 70.3 plan created by Matt Fitzgerald @mattfitwriter. I deliberately didn't choose anything too crazy as my first 70.3 is not my 'A' race, it is simply a training race as is the rest of my season actually. The 'A' race is Melbourne IM in March 2014.

Anyway I will keep posting about my progress whilst on my 70.3 structured training plan. It will keep me honest.

One more thing, recently joined #TwickenhamCyclingClub, this is in addition to my triathlon club. I have been a member for 2 weeks now and have only attended their turbo sessions as it works very well with my plan, but I will be venturing out on Saturday with them. The reason why I joined the cycling club was not only to meet new people but also my IM challenge for this year is the bike leg of Challenge Roth, one of the worlds best long distance races. I really want to complete the 180km bike leg in under 6 hours. However I am long way off that at the moment, I need to become stronger on the bike and simply get the mileage in.

BRING ON SPRING, so I can get out early and ride before work or even better get the courage and commute to work several times a week.

Anyway that is for another story. It's late and I am tired so I am signing off till next time.

Smooches for now,
Till next time, thanks for reading
