Pre Race - Wokingham Half Marathon - The season begins

My racing season begins this Sunday with my first race - Wokingham Half Marathon. http://wokinghamhalfmarathon.co.uk/

This will be my third ever half marathon and my first at Wokingham. It's a bit of a favourite amongst my triathlon club, Thames Turbo Triathlon Club. We have a good group of people that will be out running on the day.

My training this year has not been focused on half marathon training but more half ironman distance (triathlon).

How do I feel?? Do I feel ready? Am I running fast? These are the questions I am asking myself.

Look, overall I feel fine and I know I can do the distance as I have done so in the past. I am not a fast runner and as I am focusing on endurance this year and I am not a person chasing a podium I feel that I should do okay. It would be nice to come under 2.26 which is my current PB. (Set last year during the Race your Pace Half, Dorney Lake)

Internally I have set a goal of 2:15 to finish however being realistic and knowing that I have not run more than 16km at any one time this year, I will be happy with 2:30 time.

I shall be taking a #biestmilch booster before the race and probably another half of one to fuel me during the race. http://www.biestmilch.com/store/biest-booster It will be the first time using one whilst racing. I use it during training and find it give me real energy boost, which means I no longer have to take gels.

I'm looking forward to listening to some good tunes, running alongside (and behind) my fellow tri mates and then enjoying a great meal with friends after.

To all those who read my blog and who are doing the race, have a good one. Look out for my post race report on Sunday eve.

Till next time
