Week 1 - 70.3 IM Plan Completed

I said I would keep everyone posted on my first ever structured training plan and how I was progressing.

So still very early days, later this afternoon I will have completed Week 1 of the plan.

Thought I would share what week 1 of the plan looked like. Please keep in mind, this is my first half ironman distance, so I chose a very simple plan that catered for 9 hours training roughly, although I tend to do a bit more.

Week 1 - starting 28th January

Monday: Rest. Completed
Tuesday: Bike 40 minutes moderate with 4 x 30-second sprints scattered. Completed
Wednesday: Swim 800 yards total. Main set: 8 x 25 yards, rest interval (RI) = 20 seconds. | Run 4 miles moderate + 2 x 10-second hill sprints. Completed
Thursday: Bike 40 minutes moderate. Completed
Friday: Swim 800 yards total. Main set: 3 x 100 yards race pace, RI = 15 seconds. | Run 4 miles moderate. Completed
Saturday: Bike 20 miles moderate. Completed actually was a bike naughty and did 80km
Sunday: Run 6 miles moderate. | Swim 800 yards moderate. Completed, at time of writing the swim had not been done, however is being done at 4.30pm today

So I am most happy that I have stuck to the plan. One goal I set myself at the beginning of this year was to be consistent, and that I have been.

I am using TrainingPeaks to log my plan and data, so I can monitor my progress. Overall I know that if I stick to the plan, I will be ready come race day. In between this plan, I have a half marathon race, a 120km bike ride/race, an aquathon race, 2 week tri training camp in Italy and 200km Nove Colli. I can't wait!!

Till next weeks post of Week 2
Be good and keep training
